Capital One added transfer partners to its Venture miles program in 2018, and by most measures it's now considered the third major transferable-currency issuer in the US, behind Chase and Amex — known for a simple, flat-rate structure and one redemption option neither of those programs offers. Here's exactly how it works.
The card lineup
- **Venture X** ($395/year) — 2x miles on everything, 10x on hotels/cars and 5x on flights through Capital One Travel.
- **Venture** ($95/year) — 2x miles on everything, 5x on hotels/cars through Capital One Travel.
- **VentureOne** (no annual fee) — 1.25x miles on everything, 5x on hotels/cars through Capital One Travel.
- **Venture X Business** ($395/year) — same earning structure as Venture X, for small businesses.
- **Venture Business** ($95/year) — rebranded from Spark Miles for Business in 2026, same 2x-everything structure.
The "erase travel purchases" redemption
This one's specific to Capital One: redeem miles at a flat 1 cent each against any travel purchase — any airline, any hotel, any price, made within the prior 90 days — with no blackout dates and no seat restrictions. The statement credit posts in 2-3 business days.
Transfer partners — more than advertised
Capital One's own site describes "15+" transfer partners. Independent trackers that count the actual current list — TPG and Point.me both land on the same number — put it at 22: 18 airlines and 4 hotels.
Airlines at 1:1 include Aeromexico, Air Canada (Aeroplan), Avianca, British Airways, Cathay Pacific (added February 2025), Etihad, Air France/KLM, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, TAP, Turkish Airlines, and Virgin Red. A few run reduced ratios: EVA Air and Japan Airlines transfer at 4:3, JetBlue at 5:3, and Emirates was cut from 1:1 to 4:3 on January 13, 2026. That Emirates cut is actually the steepest of the bunch — Amex and Citi both moved to a less severe 5:4 ratio on their own Emirates transfers around the same period, and Chase dropped Emirates as a partner entirely in October 2025.
The 4 hotel partners: Choice and Wyndham at 1:1, Accor at 2:1, and I Prefer at 1:2 (your miles actually double on that one).
What a mile is worth
The flat "erase travel" redemption is worth exactly 1 cent, with no disagreement across sources. Transfer-partner redemptions run higher but sources vary — TPG estimates 1.85 cents, Bankrate is a bit more conservative at 1.65 cents. Treat that as a range rather than a fixed number.
Annual fees vs. perks — and a recent cut
Venture X's $395 fee includes a $300 annual Capital One Travel credit and 10,000 anniversary miles, plus Priority Pass and Capital One Lounge access. As of February 1, 2026, that lounge access got more restrictive: cardholders can no longer bring guests for free. A Priority Pass guest now costs $35, a Capital One Lounge guest costs $45 for an adult or $25 for a child, and authorized users lose free access entirely unless they pay a $125 fee. Spending $75,000 or more in a calendar year unlocks free guest access again, for that year and the next. Venture X Business cardholders are the exception — they keep 2 free Priority Pass guests.
Domestic vs. international
Capital One has no direct transfer partner among United, Delta, American, or Alaska. Star Alliance partners (Aeroplan, Avianca, Turkish, Singapore) can route to United-operated flights, SkyTeam partners (Flying Blue, Aeromexico, Virgin Red) can route to Delta, and oneworld partners (British Airways, Cathay, Etihad, Qantas) can route to American — but there's no direct big-three domestic booking path. The flat 1-cent eraser is the fallback for straightforward domestic travel.
Other notable facts
Capital One's acquisition of Discover closed May 18, 2025, making Capital One the largest US credit card issuer by loan volume. So far, the rewards programs remain separate — Discover cardholders keep their own terms, and there's no indication Discover is being folded into the Venture miles program itself, though Discover cardholders have begun gaining access to some Capital One Travel and Capital One Offers features.
